Two Training Courses in Gaza

In February 2025, Children and War Foundation conducted two training courses on Teaching Recovery Techniques (TRT) in Gaza, Palestine for 42 psychosocial support facilitators. The participants will be able to use TRT as part of their psychosocial work for children and families exposed to and affected by the war trauma in Gaza.

The training took place after about 500 days of intensive war activity that has led to almost 50,000 casualties and 112000 injures, and a mass destruction to infrastructure and civil facilities. The trained facilitators have started planning implementation of the TRT intervention with groups of the Palestinian children in Gaza with follow up and supervision from the trainers.

One course took place in Khan-Youniss and the other in Dair El-Balah governorates, while the trainers were online. The training project was implemented in partnership with the Union of Social Workers and Psychologists, Palestine and in cooperation with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza, as well as associations in Norway, notably Palestinian Community Association in Norway, the Mental Health and Human Rights Information, the Solidarity Hub at the Faculty of Psychology - University of Oslo.

CAW would like to thank all partners and the trainers, Safwat Diab and Sarah Hakim. We also thank the co-ordinating mechanism in Gaza, the technical working group, for their support.
