Three TRT Trainings in Cairo

Children and War Foundation conducted three training courses on Teaching Recovery Techniques in Cairo, Egypt for 64 facilitators working with Palestinian families and children who were displaced from Gaza because of the war.

The aim of the training was to enable facilitators to use TRT intervention to provide psychosocial support to children affected by the war in Gaza who are residing currently in Egypt. The number of Palestinians who were displaced from Gaza due to the war is estimated at approximately 120,000, and the number of children under the age of 18 is estimated at approximately 40,000 who were exposed to war trauma in Gaza over several months before leaving for Egypt. The training was implemented by the specialists Dr. Safwat Diab and Dr. Laila Ragab during the period between 22/12/2024 and 16/1/2025.

The training project was implemented in partnership with Badr University Foundation for Community Development in Egypt, where two courses were held at Badr University and the third at the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo. This training was organized in cooperation and coordination with few associations in Norway, including the Palestinian Community Association in Norway, the Mental Health and Human Rights Information, the Solidarity Hub at the Faculty of Psychology - University of Oslo. The facilitators started planning implementation of the TRT intervention with groups of the Palestinian children in Cairo with follow up and supervision from the trainers.
